Below you'll find safety information in the event you smell gas or are preparing for a weather emergency.

If You Smell Gas

No Sparks

NO SPARKS OR FLAMES

Immediately put out all smoking materials and other open flames. Do not operate lights, appliances, telephones, or cell phones. Flames or sparks from these sources can trigger an explosion or a fire.

Leave

LEAVE THE AREA IMMEDIATELY

Get everyone out of the building or area where you suspect gas is leaking.

Shut off the gas

SHUT OFF THE GAS

Turn off the main gas supply valve on your propane tank if it is safe to do so. To close the valve, turn it to the right (clockwise).

REPORT THE LEAK

From a neighbor's home or other nearby building away from the gas leak, call us right away at (904) 725-9144. If you can't reach us, call 911 or your local fire department.

DO NOT RETURN TO THE BUILDING OR AREA

...until D&D Gas, an emergency responder, or qualified service technician determines that it is safe to do so.

GET YOUR SYSTEM CHECKED

Before you attempt to use any of your propane appliances, D&D Gas or a qualified service technician must check your entire system to ensure that it is leak-free.

Getting ready for a flood or hurricane:

Take these steps to protect your family and property before a flood, hurricane or severe storm.

Properly secure the propane tank, if possible.

Fasten the protective dome on the tank.

Turn off appliance pilot lights, control valves and manual shut-off valves.

Ensure an adequate supply of fuel in the tank.

 

After the flood or hurricane has passed:

Look for visible structural damage, including external venting and vent caps. Call us at (904) 725-9144, or a qualified technician if:

You smell propane gas. The odor can smell like: rotten eggs, garbage, sewage, or a dead animal.

tank moved

Your propane tank has shifted or moved from its original location.

submerged

The tank regulator has been exposed to water.

Gas lines are broken, bent, damaged, or have pulled away from the propane tank or appliances.

Propane appliances or their controls have been exposed to water.
